Personality: Don’t let his large size and strength fool you, Abel has the heart of a puppy. He is always the first male to approach the fence to greet visitors, and won’t go away until he gets neck and back scratches. He is known to “smile” at his favorite guests and to give them special attention. With other goats, he acts as a big stuffed animal; he can be found with the other goats all snuggled up to him for comfort and warmth.

Story: Every November, we feed Abel leftover pumpkins from Halloween. They are his favorite snack in the world, and he will choose not to move with the rest of the herd and will instead stay back at the shelter if it means he gets to eat more of it. There was once a visitor to the sanctuary that happened to be wearing pumpkin scented perfume, and Abel was completely awestruck. His love for the treat is consistent and adorable.
