History

The Goat Conspiracy began as a small local sustainably-oriented farm and creamery. After almost a decade of working the farm, we began to understand gaps that could not be closed with respect to sustainability and animal welfare. In the winter of 2024, we began our transfarmation into a goat and chicken sanctuary/retirement home for our goats and chickens.

We would love for you to visit the Goat Conspiracy and learn more about our story, how we saw ourselves as an alternative to factory farms, but ended up realizing the impact of dairy among other forms of animal agriculture are neither sustainable nor truly in line with animal welfare. We offer farm visits/tours, yoga classes, soap making workshops and hold a variety of events on the farm (follow us on FB or Insta or sign up for our newsletter to keep apprised of our events).

Mission and Vision

Mission: We care for previously farmed animals and provide care and a space where they can live out their own full meaningful lives; we connect people with farmed animals so that they can develop deeper empathy and compassion for farmed animals.

Vision: We envision a world where animals are not exploited for human consumption, fashion or entertainment; where animals are protected and can live out full meaningful and natural lives; and where humans appreciate animals simply for being who they are.

Values

Animal Welfare and Compassion: The primary focus of the sanctuary are the animals that inhabit it. We want to learn from them as much as possible as well as animals outside the sanctuary who are trapped in our food system. We want the sanctuary to provide opportunities for people to connect with our animals and then make that connection to what is on or off their plate.

Education: We want to provide a welcoming environment where people can learn about our animals and the predominant farming system in the US and alternatives to it.

Sustainability: We believe in living in alignment with the earth, being respectful of the land and its inhabitants.

Reducetarianism: We want to encourage people to move away from animal products on their plate to a more plant-based diet as it is better for the animals, the planet and the individual.
